I recently participated in my first shop hop. These events, run on a state by state basis, are at first glance an unnecessary event to get quilters to buy more fabric than they need. From my observations and experience, few of us need this added incentive! But the hops also add a social dimension to quilting. Getting to know new shops and shop owners is fun and expands the connections that quilting can create. I visited a total of nine shops, eight of them participating in the hop and one with special deals for the week. I got my stash replenished, had some good laughs with friends and found a few shops that I’ll definitely revisit frequently.
